Great week on Mosquito Lagoon

This was the start of my week on Mosquito Lagoon. What an awesome shuttle launch we experienced. My parents are in town this week and I took the whole family out to see this evening launch on the water. Very cool!!!

We have had great weather this week and the fish have been tailing most of the day. Also, still seeing some nice schools of Redfish and Black Drum. Crab and small baitfish patterns have been working very good.

Yesterday I fished with Jay from Sarasota and we really got into a huge school of Redfish in the afternoon. The morning session was a little tough with the overcast skies and chop. When the sun came out in the afternoon, it was game on!!! Jay landed 5 nice redfish and hooked up on a bunch more. What a blast!!!

Today I fished with Chuck and his nephew Robbie. Chuck is now officially a regular and is truly addicted to fly fishing the flats. It is awesome to see people have that passion for this sport. We had slick calm conditions most of the day and saw a lot of tailers in super shallow water. Robbie picked up this nice Trout first thing in the morning. Good way to start the trip.

The highlight of the day was Chuck's battle with a big Black Drum. As you can see from the photo above, this fish had his 9wt bent to the cork!!! Chuck spent twenty minutes fighting this fish, had it to the boat and the hook pulled out. What a bummer!!! He did everything right, just happens some times.
Nice work guys and I look forward to fishing with you again.

Looks like we will have some stronger winds for the next couple days, but next week looks good. Only have a couple of days left this month, so get your trip booked. April dates are still available, so give me a call or email.

See you on the water!
