Spring Is Here!!!

Warmer weather has finally blessed us here in Central Florida. Man... I never thought it would get here. It must have been because my long time client Mike Camera from Ohio was in town. Every year we have had perfect weather on our trips and this one was no exception. Mike is a very experienced angler and has fish all over the world and Mosquito Lagoon just keeps calling his name.

Day 1 was full of exciting moments and mid way through the day, Mike put it all together with this nice Redfish on one of my secret flies! Always a great feeling to get that first fish of the trip under your belt. We had lot's more shots at fish on day one, but the wind picked up and made it tough to get that fly in the right presentation.

Day 2 started off with West winds and slick calm conditions, but not a lot of action. The fish were just laying around in the grass and with the low light they were very hard to see until we were right on them.

Then came the clouds and wind. Tough,Tough, Tough is all I can say. Very hard to see the fish and not a lot of action, We did see a few tailers, but no fish to the boat on day two.

Day 3 was a whole different story! Not a cloud in the sky and light winds out of the East to start the day. We worked the shoreline and they were loaded with fish. A little spooky with the slick conditions, but great sight fishing. After a couple fly changes and some great casting, Mike hooked his first fish of the day. Nice fight, however boatside the fish headed for the trim tab and sheared the leader as I grabbed it. A real bummer as we work really hard for that fish.

It was not long and we had a nice little school of fish out in front of the boat. Mike made a great cast and this beautiful fish slammed his fly. Great rod work and this fish came to hand for a pic. Nice work Mike!!! We had lots more shots at fish that day, but the wind was a factor again as a front started to work it's way in to our area. We called it a day and it was off to our favorite spot for a frosty one! Another awesome trip with one of my best clients. Thanks again Mike and look forward to seeing you this Summer for some Snook and Tarpon action.

April is almost here and I am looking forward to more consistent weather patterns. Sight fishing should remain very good as the water levels start to rise. The shoreline and backcountry fishing will get really good.

Still have date open in April, so get your trip booked today!

See you on the water,

Capt. Todd
