BAITFISH GALORE!!!!!! and the Redfish are all over them. The last couple weeks we are really starting to see the Redfish on the Lagoon start to target the baitfish schools. Sightfishing on the shorelines has been great fun. Fish have been following the fly very aggressive, but it has been a little tough to get them to commit. This should get better as they start to pound the baitfish schools. I have been working with several new anglers to the saltwater sightfishing game and it has been really a lot of fun to watch them progress with the casting and then working on presenting that fly! That is really the key to success out here on the Lagoon. The other thing that is really important is line control after the cast!
I have also been doing a lot of fly casting instruction the past month. So great to see new anglers taking up the sport. Also been working with a few experienced anglers on their double haul and quick delivery of the fly to a target. Practice....Practice....Practice!!!!! So if you are looking to improve your casting or just getting started in this sport, let's do a lesson or two. That upfront work will put you way ahead when you hit the water!
Some of my favorite time spent on the water lately has been with my daughter Madison. It has been a thrill to see her catch those panfish in our favorite fishing hole in the neighborhood. She is a natural at this fishing game! I look forward to many more years of fishing with her!
Still have a few dates open this month and next, so give me a call or email to book your trip. Sightfishing is really good right now!!!! Here are the dates I have open. May 6,7,15,27,31 - June 1,2,18,19,30
